WHO’S URBANOVA?

Cities across the globe are using technology to not only improve services and infrastructure for citizens, but also address urban challenges – like energy and water usage, traffic, and waste.

They’re called smart cities – and Urbanova is one of the innovators in this movement, bringing together leaders in utility infrastructure, smart metering and communications, higher education, energy efficiency, population health, and urban planning to create a smart city technology proving ground in the heart of Spokane, Washington.

A LIVING LABORATORY

Urbanova is a living laboratory where, right now, companies and innovators are working on smart city solutions that could ultimately be replicated around the world.

They’re harnessing data to gain insights, empower people, and solve urban challenges – enabling healthier citizens, safer neighborhoods, smarter infrastructure, a more sustainable environment, and a stronger economy.

Located in Spokane’s University District – a setting that provides opportunities to test more diverse applications that might be more difficult or costly in a larger-scale environment – Urbanova is demonstrating how existing utility infrastructure, in coordinated operation with city services like smart streetlights, can be used for customer-driven, smart city applications.

“This is one of the most unique and collaborative smart city groups I’ve worked with.”
